First-order planning

Samples using available references are commonly ready in 3 to 7 business days after the brief, required specifications and materials are confirmed. New colour, finish or packaging work commonly takes 7 to 15 business days. New tooling, unusual materials and revisions are scheduled in the quotation.

Tooling, specialised materials, finishes and complex packaging may require a higher minimum or a separately agreed schedule. The quotation confirms the sample scope, development charges and packing requirements before work begins.

Three development routes for a new jewelry brand

Standard jewelry orders start at 100 finished pieces per SKU. Each colour, size or design counts separately. One design in two colours is two SKUs: normally 100 finished pieces in each colour, or 200 pieces in total. Tooling, specialised materials, finishes and complex packaging may require a higher minimum.

RouteStarting pointWhat is agreed before production
Existing construction with your brandingAn available design or construction reviewed for permitted use.Selected sample, branding placement, material, finish and packaging.
Adapt an available referenceAgreed changes to colour, finish, dimensions or components.Changed specification, new sample, development charges and any tooling.
Full custom OEM/ODMYour artwork, drawing, physical sample or product direction.Construction, material route, tooling, sample revisions, rights and test scope.

Using an available construction can reduce development work, but does not automatically reduce the MOQ. Sample charges, tooling, included revisions, timing and any bulk-order credit are written into the quotation.

Brooches and pins

Resin, acrylic and enamel brooches and pins can be developed from an approved design direction. Review the shape, dimensions, layers, attachment, surface finish, weight and branded card or box as one product specification.

Fashion and costume jewelry

Fashion and costume jewelry programmes can be planned for a brand range, a retailer or a seasonal collection. Quantity is reviewed by colour, size or design SKU, with the material, finish, packaging and replenishment requirements stated in the quotation.

Developing resin and acrylic statement jewelry

For a brooch, earring or pendant, review the artwork and construction together. The sample brief records colour and transparency, overall dimensions, material thickness, layered or embedded detail, edge and surface finish, joining method and findings. The agreed specification identifies the production processes and inspection points relevant to the design.

The approved product is reviewed with its backing card, care information, protective packing and retail presentation. Any new mould or other tooling is quoted with its ownership and permitted use before sampling.

LICENSED & RESPONSIBLE PROGRAMMES

Contract manufacturing for customer licensees

Novelty provides contract manufacturing and production coordination for customer licensees. Producing for a licensee does not give Novelty character ownership or an independent merchandise licence. The proposed product and actual production facility must be reviewed against the customer’s written permissions.

  1. Brief and permission: the customer supplies the relevant written manufacturing authorization, product and territory scope, validity dates and approved style guide.
  2. Production route: identify the contracting entity, production facility and any specialist supplier, and review the approvals required for each.
  3. Approval gates: agree artwork, materials, sample, packaging, testing plan and production-release approvals, including any approval costs and lead time.
  4. Release and records: production proceeds only after required approvals; retain the approved versions and written change instructions for the order.

Any historical project example or customer reference is shared only with permission and appropriate supporting records. A portfolio name, facility audit or laboratory logo is not a substitute for programme-specific authorization.

Small-batch jewelry for Etsy and Shopify brands

Standard jewelry orders start at 100 finished pieces per SKU. Each colour, size or design counts separately. One design in two colours is two SKUs: normally 100 finished pieces in each colour, or 200 pieces in total. Tooling, specialised materials, finishes and complex packaging may require a higher minimum.

Start with a defined capsule range. Provide reference images, target market, materials, dimensions, colours, quantity for each SKU and the selling presentation. Compare a simple branded card or bag with a custom printed box as separate options.

The jewelry MOQ does not establish the minimum for a separately printed box, card, pouch or insert. Ask for product quantities and packaging quantities as separate quotation lines. Confirm printing and tooling charges, quantities per artwork version, any surplus packaging and who holds it before approval.

Approve the physical product, packaging artwork, barcode or SKU labels and pack count together. Bulk delivery to your stock location or fulfilment warehouse is quoted against its receiving and carton requirements. Store integration, inventory synchronisation or one-by-one consumer shipping is a separate scope to agree, not an assumed manufacturing service.

Australia jewelry delivery: request a route-specific quote

For an Australian delivery quotation, provide the postcode and full receiving location, receiver type, quantity for each SKU, packaging and required delivery date. We review the route before offering a named delivery term and place. DDP is discussed only where available for the actual order and route.

Ask the quotation to separate product and packaging, sample or tooling charges, freight, clearance services, duties and taxes included in the offer. Confirm the importer and receiving responsibilities, exclusions and transit assumptions in writing. Production time and freight transit are quoted separately; delivery to a warehouse is distinct from individual consumer fulfilment.

Send the Australian delivery brief with the product specification and postcode.

BUYER QUESTIONS

Custom jewelry manufacturing FAQ.

What is the MOQ for private label jewelry?

Standard orders start at 100 finished pieces per SKU. Different colours, sizes or designs are counted separately and each must meet its own minimum. Tooling, uncommon materials, custom finishes or complex packaging may require a higher minimum, confirmed before sampling.

Can I use my own design?

Designs and artwork you supply remain yours. Ownership and permitted use of supplier-developed designs, moulds or tooling, together with confidentiality and development charges, are recorded in writing before sampling.

Do you produce the packaging too?

We coordinate product and packaging development together. Options include approved cards, boxes, bags, barcode labels, care cards and inserts.

The jewelry MOQ does not establish the minimum for a separately printed box, card, pouch or insert. Ask for product quantities and packaging quantities as separate quotation lines. Confirm printing and tooling charges, quantities per artwork version, any surplus packaging and who holds it before approval.

How long does development and production take?

Samples using available references are commonly ready in 3 to 7 business days after the brief, required specifications and materials are confirmed. New colour, finish or packaging work commonly takes 7 to 15 business days. New tooling, unusual materials and revisions are scheduled in the quotation.

Repeat items are commonly produced in 20 to 45 business days after sample and material approval. New development, testing, packaging and shipment requirements are reviewed before the production schedule is confirmed. Production time and freight transit time are quoted separately.

The quotation confirms the sample charge, tooling or development charges, included revision work and any conditions for crediting sample charges to a bulk order. A sample charge is not automatically refundable or creditable.

Can you make jewelry for the US, UK, EU or Australian market?

The product, intended user and destination determine the testing and labelling review, including REACH, nickel release, Proposition 65 or children’s-product requirements where applicable. We can coordinate appropriately scoped third-party testing and the supporting product information. UK, EU, US and Australian requirements are reviewed for the actual order; a generic laboratory logo or report for another product does not establish coverage.

Can you quote delivery for an Australian or other overseas brand?

Do you support Etsy and Shopify jewelry brands?

We review B2B private-label and custom programmes, normally from 100 finished pieces per colour, size or design SKU. Provide the product and branding brief, approved packaging, warehouse requirements and target delivery date. Manufacturing, bulk delivery, store integration and single-order fulfilment are different scopes. Plan a small-batch launch.

Does making licensed-character jewelry mean Novelty holds the character licence?

No. Novelty’s role is contract manufacturing and production coordination for customer licensees. The customer provides the required manufacturing authorization, style guide and approval requirements. The actual facility, product, territory, period and required approvals are reviewed before release; a portfolio logo is not authorization. Review the approval workflow.
